I joined Thiess and the future CIMIC Group a few days before my 19th Birthday 17 years ago. It has been a roller coaster ride since then; always exciting; always challenging, but not always good for my health.
In the past I have often fallen into the trap of grabbing a bacon and egg roll at 4am on the way into site, or getting in at 6am at West End because the office was quite and you could get a few hours of thinking time, or walking over to Fast Eddies 24 hour cafe from the old Thiess St Georges Tce office at midnight to grab pizza with one of our current GM’s during late night tender session. I think it is somewhat ironic that I have managed through all that, and 2 kids to put on 1kg for every year I have had with the business; I don’t like this trend so think it might be time to reverse it.
Hence stupidly I didn’t resist this year when they suggested I sign up for the Corporate Triathlon Series on the Gold Coast on February 24th. I with a huge team from across EIC, Thiess, Sedgman, CPB and UGL will tackle a 400m swim, followed by a 10km ride, and then a 4km run. My current state of fitness dictates something akin to the fast, cheap and good saying, I can can only pick two!
As some of you know my wife after beating breast cancer herself founded So Brave, Australia’s newest Breast Cancer Charity, focused on raising funds for research and education for young women diagnosed with breast cancer. So this year I am running for her, and running for all young women that have to face such a crappy hand. If you can spare a few dollars to help me reach my goal I would be very grateful.

Hey look, I managed to train 6 days a week for week 1, now I just have to keep it up for the next 6 weeks too 🙂
