The So Brave Project began as an idea: body paint young women who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer to raise awareness and fundraise for research. In our first year, we empowered young women in four Australian states and raised over $70,000 for breast cancer research; which was shared between the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Centre for Personalised NanoMedicine. Both organisations are doing amazing things in breast cancer research.
Our project has grown too, and in 2017, So Brave Ltd became its own charity and has travelled across Australia, empowering dozens of young women, providing a platform to share experiences and to raising the profile of breast cancer in young women. So Brave continues to support young women with breast cancer, striving to bring awareness across Australia. This money also goes toward research, in hopes that better diagnoses methods and treatments can be discovered and ultimately, a cure can be created.
Thank you for your support, your donation allows us to continue to transform and support our brave young women, and funds So Brave’s investment in breast cancer research and our Research Grants Program, launching in 2018. The grants will directly fund best practice scientific and medical research across Australia that focuses on better prevention, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of Breast Cancer, particularly in young women.

Where does the money go?
In 2017, our year of regional focus, So Brave proudly partnered with the McGrath Foundation. We were honoured to meet many of the beautiful women who are at the coalface of cancer treatment, particularly in regional Australia – our fabulous McGrath Breast Care Nurses.
